The Bad Boys of the Synth are back with their 15th album. Yes, I speak I speak of the one and only  Depeche Mode. After a few lack-luster releases, Memento Mori ( Columbia) is different. It is a journey to the past, in order to find the future. Reminiscent of "Black Celebration",with a modern touch. From the opening track,'My Cosmos Is Mine',the band, now down to mostly Dave Gahan and Martin Gore, have found a fresh touch by looking back from where they came from.
Spotlight Tracks include the opening track, which starts the album off on a dark foot, where it stays until album's end.Again, much like 'Black Celebration',this is a beautifully dark journey through the psyche, and the heart, showing their twisted sense of emotions once again. On tracks like 'Wagging Tongue',which contains the Depeche Mode patened style of harmonies, are deep tracks.
Is the albun comercial enough to have another Top 10 hit like 'Enjoy The Silence" or " Policy Of Truth". Honestly, no. It will appeal to those who already loves these Kings of the Moog'.BUt, I don't see it bringing in a plethora of new fans.
